What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've either lost your Nissan keyfob or it's stopped functioning. Before you contact the dealership or panic, trace your steps to see where you last saw it.
Fortunately, it's easy to change the battery in the key fob of your Nissan. It may seem daunting initially but you'll soon get knack of it in no time.
Smart Keys
The key fob that came with your Nissan is a crucial part of the car's advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors and begin the engine. It also has a convenient design, making it easy to carry in your pocket. Key fobs also offer features that make life easier, like a lockout protection function, which ensures that you won't accidentally leave the vehicle with keys inside.
Smart keys work wirelessly unlike previous models that required you to insert the key into the ignition slot to access the vehicle's internal systems. When you are near the vehicle the Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can be as simple as opening or locking the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models have a valet key that is hidden inside the metal. This key can be retrieved from a release located on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to valet. The Smart Key fob also features a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when not in use.

It's possible to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working properly. Most fobs have CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions to change the batteries are available in your owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock your car's doors and start its engine with a push of the button. It also allows you to activate presets that are based on your preferences. For instance, you can adjust the seat and mirrors to maximize comfort. You can also control the music from your phone so that you don't need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna that sends out a signal when you approach your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once your vehicle receives this signal it activates the system, opening or locking doors, launching the engine, and then opening the trunk. If you'd like to test the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle and click the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sound it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Batteries are required for the operation of Intelligent Key Fobs. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace the battery if it is out of batteries. To do this, take out the key from its hidden compartment and then open the battery compartment of your key fob. Remove the battery that was in it, then put a new one in its place. Assure that the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the original one. Close the compartment for the battery, and then return the secret key to its hid position inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to warm up or cool their vehicle from outside of the vehicle, provided they are within operating range. The ignition of the car is activated by pressing a button on the key fob or smartphone application. The remote start system can also activate the climate control so that the driver is able to set their preferred temperature. G28 Car Keys have two-way communication which allows the driver to observe what is happening in their vehicle.
If the remote start feature of your car isn't working, the main reason is the low power of the battery. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery which can be replaced. It lasts for about two years. The battery can be replaced easily, but you will be required to be aware of where the secret key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the compartment for the battery.
Flip the fob over and press the hidden latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened, remove the old battery and insert a fresh one, making sure it is the same dimensions and configuration of the existing battery. Be sure to install the hidden key and put back the key fob in the correct way before closing the outer case. Contact our parts department for help in replacing your Intelligent Key fob battery.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection helps eliminate nuisance lockouts caused due to impedance relay failure. A special module in the power control unit checks the impedance relay's activity and then shuts down the output. This feature is only available for vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu on the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine started up when it was supposed to be turned off to prevent maintenance or repairs. These accidents are usually the result of energy that hasn't been released properly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems help to prevent these accidents by making sure that the machines remain off until the authorized individual releases them.
The LOTO system is made up of a variety of locks, tags and other devices that are used to secure, isolate the device from an electric source. All "affected", "authorized" and "qualified" personnel should be instructed on the use of lockout and tagout devices. These devices include but not restricted to chains, locks padlocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is identified and labeled with the date and time of the application along with the name of the authorized person and the reason behind the lockout/tag-out (repair maintenance, repair, etc.). It is essential to clearly state that the devices cannot be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
